SIX HOUR-NATIONWIDE TV BROADCAST TO ORIGINATE FROM BUFFALO

Syfy Channel’s Ghost Hunters Halloween Broadcast to Feature Buffalo Central Terminal

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation and the Syfy television channel announced today that the nationwide television broadcast of Ghost Hunters Halloween Live will originate from the historic Buffalo Central Terminal. The live broadcast is scheduled to air Sunday, October 31, from 7PM-1AM (ET/PT).

The six-hour Ghost Hunters Halloween Live event will feature the TAPS team’s (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) hunt for paranormal activity inside the Terminal. The entire Ghost Hunters franchise and other special guests, will team up to take on the haunts at the inimitable Buffalo Central Terminal in Buffalo, New York. Built in 1929 and abandoned 50 years later, the Terminal was once a bustling, 14-story combination office tower and train station. Now, this art deco masterpiece is a potent hotbed of paranormal activity. Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International and Ghost Hunters Academy are produced in association with Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Films and Television.

“We are extremely excited that the Terminal will be featured on a national platform,” says Central Terminal Restoration Corporation President Mark Lewandowski. “During its 50 year history as Western New York’s primary transportation hub, millions of people passed through the Terminal concourse, many for the last time. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few souls, along the way, missed their train.”

Originally launched in 1992 as SCI FI Channel, and currently in 96 million homes, Syfy is a network of NBC Universal, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies. The network features “imagination-based entertainment” such as original series, events, blockbuster movies and classic science fiction. The Syfy channel can be found in Western New York on Time-Warner channel 35, Verizon FiOS channel 180 and through various satellite providers.

The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) was founded in 1997 to oversee the stabilization and restoration of the New York Central Terminal in Buffalo, New York. The Terminal complex includes an 18-acre site that hosts an art deco office tower, passenger concourse and four-story baggage building. The mission of the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation is to ensure that the original grandeur of the Terminal is available to current and to all future generations. Information about the building’s colorful history and special events is available at BuffaloCentralTerminal.org.

Will this event be open to the public? is there a cover charge? Oct 31 at the Central Terminal in Buffalo NY.

  2. No, the Terminal will be not be open to the public during the event. It is a closed set.

This is a chance to see the actual workings of what actually goes on in a TAPS investigation where we can see what is not shown in the hour-long condensed version on Wednesday nights. (On the TV show it seems like they’re just getting started when Jason says “Let’s wrap it.”.) Hopefully they will be investigating in the baggage building and on the floors of the tower too. I’d like to see more use of the thermal imaging, UV, and full spectrum cameras in this one. The thermal cameras are great at picking up anomalies! Those seem to work better than the other types. And hopefully more K2 and EVP sessions too. Before TAPS gets started with this one it might be an opportunity for Ryan and the other WNYGH members to share some of their recordings with TAPS, if they haven’t already done so. Will TAPS have an interactive website for viewers to post comments to, and point out things that TAPS might have missed, so they can take a closer look during the investigation, like the Ghost Adventures Crew did with the place they investigated live last year?

i love ghost hunter i watch them all the time an i even went to waverly hills after i so taps i went twice love the show an keep up the good work

  6. Ozzy says:

You just gotta love the publicity this does for the building. The BCT being featured on Ghost Hunters is the best thing that ever happened.

  7. buffalogal says:

PaulG- TAPS has done an extended live investigation on Halloween for years and did a 1 hour show on the BCT last fall. They had quite a bit of activity there, so I’m not surprised they’re back. They were the pioneers of broadcasting live from an investigation and have always had a website for the viewers to also comment during the event. They even run a ticker across the bottom of the screen with the comments as they are received. No offense to anyone but you just can’t compare the Ghost Adventure drama-kings to the professionals at TAPS.

  8. Paul G says:

Yes, I did see ‘Speaking with the dead’ 2 years ago. (I now have the Season 4 Part 2 DVD set , which contains that episode.) I also saw the ‘Drama Queen’ episode of Ghost Hunters Academy, but I wasn’t impressed with that one. I also heard some of the recordings that Ryan and other WNYGH members made, at the ‘Members Only’ tour last year. I forgot to mention above that I would also like to see TAPS investigate the basement and some of the tunnels down below. I heard some really good evidence could be captured down there. As far as Ghost Adventures are concerned, those guys do get carried away a bit (with the yelling and screaming, foul language, etc.). I watch that show more for the entertainment value. They’ll probably never come to BCT (good thing I suppose). They seem more interested in investigating places with dark pasts, where people had unfortunate deaths, were tortured and murdered, killed in combat, or disposed of after they died. That’s where the drama king part comes in. (Although I was a bit impressed toward the end of their pilot episode, when the brick launched in the basement of the Goldfield Hotel. But with the board falling afterward, I supposed that could also be debunked as some sort of catapault mechanism, or a short blast of compressed air, or an explosive charge, triggered to launch the brick on que.) I’ll stay tuned for more details on the live TAPS investigation at BCT! I’ll be checking the ‘Beyond Ghosts’ website too.

  9. Derek Wilson says:

What a great place for the live investigation. I investigated the Buffalo Central Terminal earlier this year and it was a blast. I love that place and I hope all the attention keeps on coming. Looking forward to watching it. I am sure more info will pop up in the next couple weeks. I will be checking out Beyond Ghosts for more info…… You should too. Happy Halloween everyone!

  10. Stu says:

It’s great publicity, but like the last “ghost hunt” nothing turned up. The Central Terminal is not haunted.

    • Alexis says:

Did you even watch that show???? Grant and Jayson communicated with a woman still waiting for the trains….

      • Kim says:

A few years back, I was standing on the platform where the taxis used to drop off. There was this older woman standing there andshe told me a story of how this was the lat spot she saw her hubby before going to war. THen she Poofed. I wonder if this is the same woman Grant and Jayson comunicated with.

  11. Shannon says:

I was wondering if they were were going to do like a meet and greet before and do some autographs before the show?

  12. Bob Gasten says:

Why do you think there is paranormal activity at the train terminal? The most widely accepted basis for ghosts to exist in a particular place was because of a violent death; has any person fell to a sudden death at this site? I personally do not believe any paranormal activity exists at this site due to the fact I have spent time inside the building while it was closed and before the preservation group took over operations. This is just a marketing event that I find disrespectful for exploitation and shows ignorance that educated adults would actually go along with this absurd prank.

  14. shawn mcdoanld says:

i thinks its great that taps r going t bct, cuz when they did the iron museum, it got very interesting!

  15. Brenda B says:

I love Ghost Hunters and I have a lot of respect and admiration for them. It’s great BCT for a live investigation. As for paranormal activity goes it all depends if the deceased spirit(s) wish to connect with the living spirit(s). Anyways. The history is always quite fascinating.

  16. Paul G says:

One can only hope for the best. Without much provocation, Jason and Grant seem to know how to get communication going with those on the other side. There is a lot of residual energy left in the terminal from the glory days, and here’s hoping that those entities approve of everything that the CTRC has done so far, and are supportive of future efforts. Let’s hope the spirits are in the mood to play some practical jokes with TAPS, since Jason, Grant, Steve, Tango and Kris are now familiar faces to them. They haven’t met Amy yet, but I think they will be pleasantly surprised with her. (I don’t think they’ll be saying ‘Go home’ this time!) I don’t know if any additional TAPS members will be coming, but it would be nice to have them. Four or more teams can cover a lot more ground than three. And that would also allow for a more seamless broadcast, except for the commercial breaks.

  17. Erin U. says:

Oh my gosh this is my favorite show, and I just moved to Buffalo. Loved the shows shot here before, can’t wait! The only thing that would make this better is if I could meet Jay and Grant! Hope Steve and Tango are doing this too!<3

  18. Bill B says:

A pity that Syfy is available through “pay” tv only. I would sit through 20 commercials to have it on regulat tv…but hey, we have info-mercials…lol.

  19. Paul G says:

Erin, just thought I’d let you know that there is a local group, the Western New York Ghost Hunters, headed up by Ryan Willard of the CTRC. Their website hasn’t had much activity lately, but their sister website, Beyond Ghosts seems to be kept fairly current. They have ties with TAPS, and a few others as well. Check them out!
