1) Returning Passenger rail is a big priority but that requires year round heating.
2) Future High Speed rail is has potential.
3) Current growth in the Larkin District and ECC Downtown make the 1.5 mile extension of Light Rail to the Central Terminal ideal for use as a NFTA ParknRide.
4) Current growth in the Canalside changes the value of the DL&W to the point where the Central Terminal is a better location for the NFTA maintenance sheds than the DL&W.
5) Central Terminal is ideal for offices of the NFTA and GBNRTC. Market the building to them.
6) Central Terminal is ideal for companies related to Import, Export, Logistics, Transportation, Distribution, International Trade, Warehouse Management, Supply Chain Management, etc. Market it to them. UB has a Center for Global Enterprise Management that could be upgraded into a Center for Excellence and located at the Central Terminal as an anchor.
7) Treat the Central Terminal not as a building but as a future campus where new office buildings could surround the central terminal like the Center for Excellence is doing in the Fruit Belt.
The Central Terminal and the Statler are the 2 biggest masonary restoration projects in Buffalo and they are both critical to the future success of our city.
Like I said, if the High Speed Rail happens then we gotta act fast to save those platforms. I’ve seen some recent photos of the platforms and it is really scary. I wish Amtrak would just hand them over. They are in bad shape and vandels are still getting into the structure. I would really hate to see the platforms destroyed. They can be saved but it may take awhile.
Another idea is to move the downtown Bus Terminal to the Central Terminal.
The downtown Bus Terminal is now situated in what is rapidly growing to be a 9-12 block ECC downtown campus and Center for Excellence in Life Sciences Campus anchored around the downtown Public Library. A Public Library which needs to expand into a medical/health sciences/clinical library for UB and a student library for ECC, as well as, bookstores.
thing is each of the following require a light rail extension to the Central Terminal
moving the DL&W maintenance sheds to the Central Terminal
moving the NFTA and GBNRTC Offices to the Central Terminal
NFTA parknride at the Central Terminal
passenger rail, commuter rail and high speed rail to the Central terminal
Bus Terminal relocated to the Central Terminal
Its only 1.5 miles between downtown, ECC downtown, Larkin and the Central Terminal…and that 1.5 miles is probably the most critical 1.5 miles in Buffalo rightnow.
Any photos of the spring clean up, also what’s the status of the Dedication plaque and the restroom’s?
We don’t have any photos of the spring clean up to view yet, but soon. The dedication plaque is installed in the west side lobby, and the bathrooms just need the stall dividers.
How about pictures from dyngus day? That was a month ago!
When I was on a tour last spring we were told the bathrooms where going to be open soon. I guess soon means a year plus!
Sorry, I’m not aware of many photos taken on Dyngus Day by our volunteers. The restrooms are functional, however we are waiting to receive stall dividers which will allow us to open them up for use.

what happen to the big banner the CT was going to hang to welcome the president? Another wishfull dream by the CTRC, with the same out come of many others.
The banner to welcome the president was unable to be hung on the building, and instead was hung along the back side of the property, and was viewable by the motorcade as they passed. I was told at least one of the local news stations showed the banner on their coverage.
Did anyone snap a picture? I work in the area and did not see it? Must not of been to visable.
I hope someone did, because I’d like to see it too. I don’t want to watch all the news coverage tho to catch a glimpse haha

I checked out the news stations website. Sawthe storys and there was no mention or pictures of the banner. I also work in the area I see the terminal from my office window. There was no banner.
As I already said, the banner was NOT on the building but on a fence on the backside of the property along the motorcade route.
