Thanks to all for the “members only” tour! It was a very informative time indeed! I am still being bought up to speed with everything that is currently going on with the state of the terminal and the CTRC. I would urge all to contact senators Clinton and Schumer, and congressional representatives, and also state and local representatives to see what they can do about securing funding for badly needed repairs at the terminal.
This is something everyone will benefit from down the line, and someday we can all look at the finished product with pride and tell people “I did my part to help bring this about”. This is the first time I heard the phrase “sweat equity” mentioned, but probably not the last. So it goes.
I hope some Saturday morning a whole bus load of volunteers shows up, ready to dig in and get much accomplished. In preparation for that, if it happens with any regularity, we would probably have to develop a game plan, and organize work teams for each project requiring multiple hands. I see cleaning out debris is still a very labor intensive issue, and there is still much debris that needs to be removed. We could always use more help with that. Once that’s under control, then we can actually begin to make the facility marketable. (The target mentioned was within the next 10 years, but if we can get more help, I would kind of like to see it happen in less than 5. The sooner the better.)
Special thanks to Mark Lewandowski for providing information I didn’t know before, and probably many of us didn’t. Keep up the good work!
I’m looking forward to seeing the virtual tour of the terminal when it gets rolled out.
I hope someday someone volunteers to make copies and electronically scan any original blueprints of the terminal on file, so that information will never be lost. And I also hope that some legal professionals will volunteer some of their services to help with those aspects of the restoration.
Let’s get “Buffalo Central Terminal ” on the “Station News” section of the

Amtrak’s “Great American Stations” website!
(I don’t know if Meltwater News manages that too, maybe someone can find out.)
Go to the site and play the video “Discover Tomorrow in your hometown” to learn more!
I wish I went to the Friends Only Tour. I was sadly busy all day working outside. Also that is really cool video from Channel 7. I also have some info about the cat. On the mazzanine level by the offices there is a couple of cat prints in the concrete. I wish I had my camera with me to tale the photos of them. It seems very strange.
Manifestations may be easier to see when the air is full of dust. I helped on the third floor during spring cleanup and it got pretty dusty up there. My theory is that the apparitions seen by others were probably going about their daily routine, just as anybody does on the job. Think about it. If you work in an office complex and you and a co-worker step into the hallway to get a drink from a drinking fountain, it’s no big deal. What is a big deal is if it’s seen by others decades into the future, long after you have since left. It’s like traveling in a time machine. Likewise, in their time we are from their future, and we are the apparitions to them. If they interact with us, it’s intelligent, if they are oblivious to us, it’s residual. As far as the fountain reappearing too, there is some other type of energy involved there. Maybe a portal to another time period opened briefly at that moment. It would be interesting to note the exact time of day this sighting occurred, if it happens again. And if any future sightings happen in the terminal also. Interesting theory, no?
What are you talking about. This isn’t Star Trek!
And like I said in an earlier blog, it’s not The Twilight Zone either, just a theory! Maybe more of us need to have encounters while working in there. As long as nobody gets hurt. TAPS did find something in there. Believe what you want.
I’ve spent literally thousands of hours in the terminal. At all times of the day and night. I’ve never seen or felt any presences there. Take from that what you will. Perhaps I’m not receptive or sensitive to the presence of spirits, but I am not alone.
If there are spirits there, they are friendly spirits!
A quote from Paul G…
“Maybe a portal to another time period opened briefly at that moment.”
Lets try and jump into the portal, maybe it will take us back before the building went into disrepair, and we can save it! Just a thought.
At this time there is nothing to indicate the spirits are not friendly.
I have yet to have an encounter with one also.
An EVP message that says something like “Go home” to the hunters seems to be pretty standard, the spirits’ way of telling the hunters they prefer to be left alone.
They’ll get over it. The restoration goes on!
I saw the GH episode last night of the house in Ma. where the lady who lived there was afraid to sleep there anymore, and TAPS told her there was nothing to worry about. Then she said a loud noise awoke her one night to alert her to shut the stove off so the corn she was steaming wouldn’t catch the house on fire.
As far as jumping into the portal, we might need the (volunteer) help of a psychic ghost whisperer there! Be nice if we could. I’d like to save a couple of NYC 4-8-4 Niagara locomotives too while we’re at it!
