OH MY GOD!!!! The Ghost Hunters (TAPS) are my idols!!!! I’ve been studying the paranormal for many years. They both inspired me to to get into the paranormal investigating field. If the place is haunted……I want to send the night here so bad.

  2. Paul G Says:

Ozzy, I’m sure many spiritual energies exist inside the terminal. From the folks who worked on its construction, and many who worked there over the ages. Even some from those who once passed through there, train passengers, crew members, etc.. Possibly Mr. Fedele and his dog Moose. Maybe even an occasional visit by Mr. Fellheimer and Mr. Wagner too! Just to see how restoration on their biggest project is coming along. Not quite the way it’s depicted in “Prison of the Psychotic Damned” though. Most spiritual activity there, in actuality is more or less harmless; more curiosity than anything else. I would probably expect during many work sessions there that some have seen or heard things they would rather not talk about, at the risk of being called crazy. A strange object in motion, vanishing into thin air, unusal sounds that have no rational explanation, “warm” and “cold” spots that happen without warning, etc..

It brings to mind the fictional story posted on this site earlier this year about the Buffalo cop (Davoe, I think it was) who got a call to the terminal, went in and found a dazed woman inside, who told him she worked there. He brought her out to his patrol car, went to get a blanket out of the trunk for her to keep warm with, came back and found she had vanished without a trace. Only his footprints in the snow, etc.. She was a ghost!

  3. Paul G Says:

Not to mention the eerie feeling one gets when entering a part of the terminal that hasn’t been occupied by anyone in years, like a “buzz” or “high” sensation, a feeling that maybe you’re not alone in there. This heightens one’s perception of anything animated or unusual around them. Like maybe something eventful happened in there, but you don’t know what. Nobody really knows for sure. A good paranormal medium would probably be able to tell. Instruments only help in some cases, but psychic ability is probably the best way.

  4. Paul G Says:

By the way, has anyone ever wondered what happened to the firm Fellheimer & Wagner?
Check out this little blip I found on the internet:

    WASA/Studio A

WASA/Studio A is a partnership of design professionals dedicated to excellence in the disciplines of architecture, interiors, historic preservation, sustainable design and M/E/P engineering. The firm originated in 1885 as Reed & Stem in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1903, the firm won the design competition for Grand Central Terminal and, as a result, established a practice in New York City. In 1923, the name changed to Fellheimer & Wagner, renowned for their design of Cincinnati Union Terminal. In 1961, we became Wank Adams Slavin Associates or WASA. (Roland Wank is best known for his work as chief architect of the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1933-44.) In 2004, we evolved into WASA/Studio A heralding our commitment to our expanded design department. With offices in New York City, Newark, NJ and New Canaan, CT, WASA/Studio A’s six principals and staff of 100 provides an integrated package of expertise to our clients.

In the late 1970s, WASA/Studio A established a Preservation Department. Since then, WASA has been trusted with many of America’s most important cultural and historic buildings. With a constant focus on the mission of preservation – to maintain a building’s original fabric with minimal intervention, while improving its function – WASA/Studio A’s team provides innovative solutions to challenging projects, extending the life of historic structures, and accommodating emerging needs. WASA/Studio A’s expertise in preservation represents the successful integration of science, art and history to ensure that the legacy of America’s architectural heritage is not compromised. Projects planned and designed by WASA/Studio A have received national acclaim and have won awards.

  5. Ozzy Says:

Well I do have to admit that when you go to the 2nd floor you always get a weird feeling of some sort. I happens to me all the time on that floor. Especially Mr. Fedeles old apartment. I’m still wondering how the BCT is “haunted” though……does anybody know if any workers died here such as office, construction, or rail workers die in or around the building?

  6. Charlie Says:

I am so watching this! With the feelings that I have had, when I used to walk by that place…I will be interested to see if there is anything there or if it was just my mind going crazy on me! I used to walk my dog out near that area and both her and I didn’t like the place. I would get this real creepy feeling…almost of dread, and my room mate told me that I went pale. My dog would get into a protective kind of mode too. So, this will be interesting!!

  7. Paul G Says:

I don’t know about seeing the fuzzy glowing images of long dead people’s faces at night in the plexiglass or smashed out windows of the tower where the plexiglass or plywood blew out (Was it just the wind that blew them out, or some ectoplasmic force?), or ghostly shadowy figures up in the crown of the tower that disappear in a spotight, or even strange lights moving around inside the tower windows at night, but I’m surprised no bodies or bones were ever found in the elevator shafts. The glass on the elevator doors on the 2nd floor look like they were shot out, gang-land style. I’d be surprised someone didn’t get beaten up, shot or stabbed, or someone got raped or something in the building, during a drug deal, mugging, robbery or whatever during the 18 years of abandonment, knowing how the neighborhood was during that time!

  8. Ozzy Says:

The plexi glass windows were blown out becuase of the wind. Also I have read many articles and books about this place for years and there were no murders or killings in the building. And I have not come across any accidental deaths while this place was being under construction.

  9. Paul G Says:

Then any spiritual activity there, if found, should be of the peaceful nature. Parallelism in sync with another era. Happier times, revisited by those who have since passed into another life. The terminal, to the best of my knowledge, was not constructed on sacred native burial ground. So there is probably nothing to fear. Knowing there are spirits around in there, but not feeling threatened by them. Like I said, it’s not quite like “Prison of the Psychotic Damned”.

  10. Paul G Says:

Of course, many historic places are the subject of tall tales and legends.
(That homeless guy that was seen there might have a few tales to tell, if anybody believed him. Stories of kings and thieves in medieval times, as told by an old hermit of the woods. And legends of Central Terminal, the stuff of those with wild imaginations. The stuff movies are made of.)

  11. james Says:

I remember going in there when i was a kid , never by myself .all i remember is that they had a bunch of manaquins all over the place . I do remember there was a story they found a dead guy in that tunnel frozen in the snow back in the early 80s. dont know if it was true tho.. me and my friends use to go in there and i remember it was allways really creepy . I cant wait to see this episode .its gonna bring back some memories………

  12. Ozzy Says:

Well as a paranormal researcher and small time investigator, I have come up with some theories. A old railroad worker could come back to the place he/she loved. Before the BCT was built they leveled over 200 house and it is possible some people wanted revenge when they passed, a soldier soldier leaving for war could have been the last time they seen there loved ones or the building, hyper sensitivity which means where people would think they saw something but in reality they didn’t. It is very difficult say what could be in the building but we will have to see when my heros/idols investigate the BCT airing tommorrow night.

  13. Bill Says:

24 hours and counting! Can’t wait!

  14. Ozzy Says:

    Yeah, me too!

  15. Spelun-king Says:

If they find nothing then they are not looking hard enough. I used to skip school in there back in my high school days. I had a bad day during a snow storm in there. After what I experienced I left without my coat and never looked back. I will never go in there ever again. Something is very wrong in the terminal. Stay out of there unless you have a death wish my friends.

  16. Paul G Says:

If anyone knows who “Orbitzsmack” is, who uploaded the video “Central Terminal Buffalo” to YouTube, very well done video! Looked like a supernatural encounter could have come any second there. Especially in the waiting room at the end.
(I wish the statue “Progress” could have been saved!)

  17. Paul G Says:

Spelun-King, were you smoking something in there when whatever it was scared the jacket off of you? With the wind howling outside and the snow blowing in the broken windows, that would make for a very creepy scenario, like a banshee howling or something, especially at dusk. Seeing anything moving in there would have been terrifying especially if you had been smoking something and suffering from hypothermia. Maybe it was the spirits telling you that you weren’t supposed to be there. As far as never going back in there, come on! The upcoming Halloween party there might be a good way for you to get re-acquainted with the place.

  18. Tina Says:

As a kid, my buddy, Ali and I use to hang in the terminal when we skipped church. We’d spend our collection money on candy, head to the abandoned Central Terminal and ride up and down the elevator. Wa-ay up (think it was 15th floor), one could step out on a ledge thing w/wrought iron railing and look out over Buffalo. One Sunday while up there, I did just that and the concrete ledge started crumbling gently under my foot. I hauled butt, sure that God was about to punish me for skipping church. lol That place has always and still fascinates me. Gotta skip my meeting and watch the eppy!!

  19. Tina Says:

Ghosthunters is the best. I wrote them once about some recorded material I’d captured while researching one of my mysteries. They couldn’t make a judgement, of course, until they saw the recording. I only have that one copy and I’m afraid making a copy would mess things up so I cannot send it in the mail. If ever near TAPS headquarters, and should she still be interested in seeing material, I’ll bring it in personally.

  20. Bill Says:

20 Minutes to go! The suspense is killing me!

  21. Tina Says:

Yeah, baby. Hope they replay the Buffalo, Lovejoy Funeral Parlor segment sometime. Totally missed that one.

  22. Doreen in California Says:

WOW! That was incredible! Watching the heat thermal was paralyzing. TAPS is amazing! Is everyone going to state their experiences now?

  23. Jason Says:

Awesome job! I need to go back and start volunteering again!

  24. Ozzy Says:

So I guess the Buffalo Central Terminal is now haunted. I bet you any money the older man that said “Go Home” and “Bring Back The Girls” was are good old friend Anthony Fedele. I bet he was the one that shown up on the thermal on the end of the hallway. I thought my heros TAPS did an amazing job of investigating the place. I seriously would make a small room on Fedeles old floor. It would be cool for a CTRC member who want to spend the night on the floor so he/she could have a little experience. I would spend the night on the floor in a heart beat.

  25. Paul G Says:

Like John Locke of “Lost” feels about the island, when I’ve gone into the terminal I feel like it and I have much in common. I can’t explain it, but there is some sort of bond there. I can relate to what it’s going through. I’m not scared of it. The vibes I get in there are peaceful ones. Vibes of hope for a new beginning.
(Maybe Tony Fedele felt that way too.)

  26. Sharon Says:

I have always loved this structure from afar. It must have been a gorgeous display of architecture in its time. Not originally from the area, I don’t know all the history. What is the story of the man with an apartment there? Was this when the terminal was in use? Or was he living there in the half million square feet of crumbling debris?

  27. Paul G Says:

Sharon, it was gorgeous up until sometime after 1979. Tony Fedele, the realtor with the apartment in there, struggled to hold onto the place, but it was too big for him to manage alone. He wound up losing it through tax foreclosure, and slowly but surely it started to fall apart, and it eventually fell victim to the unsavories. He lived long enough to see the CTRC take posession of it and start reversing some of the damage done.
I don’t know what he looked like when he was alive and healthy, but maybe someone has a photo of him they could post somewhere. So if his spirit walks the terminal, we could recognize him if we see him. (May he rest in peace.)

  28. Terminalfanatic Says:

I’ve been volunteering there for 5 years now…I’ve been all over the building from the rooftops to the depths of the basement. And yet not a single “ghost” “apparition” or spooky thing has ever happened to me. Maybe ghost just don’t say hello to me.

  29. Debi K. Says:

We are wondering if homeless people who sought shelter there possibly ended up passing away there. When there a couple of weeks ago I felt very weird the whole time and kept thinking the place was haunted. And that awful noxious smell that seemed to emanate from everyplace! I found it depressing to witness the once-magnificent structure in it’s current state. I used to know someone in the 1980’s who lived close enough to the place to look out their window and see it’s dark form looming – it seemed so surreal and sinister, just like something out of a horror movie. It did have the reputation then of being an extremely dangerous place, as various hoodlums (gangs-?) hung out there. TAPS did a great job investigating, it was really cool to watch!

  30. Sara Etten Says:

Hello everyone. I’m glad you enjoyed the episode, I did as well. In all my time visiting at all times of the day in the night since I started with the CTRC in 2003, I can’t say I’ve experienced anything (and I was one of the people with James, when he thought someone was standing with him. They didn’t air it, but the “thing” actually followed James down the stairs, and when he got to where I was a flight below the “thing” went away. We sat on the stairs awhile waiting for it to come back, but it didn’t…maybe they don’t say hello to me either).

As far as Tony Fedele…he bought the building after it closed and tried to make it into something useful, but as was said on the show, it’s much too big of a project for one person. We don’t know the real story about why he started living there, but we’ve heard he was evicted from his home, and had no where else to turn. One of our old volunteers knew Tony and had a few dinners in Tony’s apartment overlooking the concourse. He told us people used to break into the building and into the apartment quite frequently. It’s a big place to secure, even back then. Tony truly did love the building, he is the one who put it on the Historic Register, but he did begin to sell off artifacts – particularly the light fixtures from the train concourse after it was detached – to pay for the building. He did end up losing it for taxes, and that is when Tom Telesco came onto the scene, purchasing it at tax auction.

And I must say, I love the church story ha!

  31. Scott Says:

I watched the TAPS episode last night about BCT. Wow, if any of the people commenting on this web site live around this place, definitely go and visit! The show clearly demonstrated that BCT is without a doubt haunted! I would like to know more about the “women” that TAPS made contact with.so, if anyone does a follow-up and has any luck making contact again with that ghost, leave information here-tag it so I can find it!! Thanks

BTW-I’m in the DFW area in Texas, and will one day make the trip up there to see this place!

  32. Mike Says:

Tony Fedele lived in the building until 1986, with his dog Moose. He died in 1995, before the CTRC.

  33. brian K Says:

and Jay Hawes is from Lackawanna how cool is that. my grandma lived in the Fillmore neighborhood just NW of the BCT until the late eighties, I wish i would’ve gotten a look at it then. but i love going to events there now.

    how about that K2 meter???

  34. brian K Says:

  35. Ken Says:

    Ozzy asked:
“……does anybody know if any workers died here such as office, construction, or rail workers die in or around the building?”

My reply: My great late uncle had mentioned many times how an African American man had been killed from a fall while the construction of the building was taking place.

  36. Paul G Says:

Does Ghost Hunters/ TAPS have an online store I could buy the DVD of this episode from? Please post here if anybody knows! Searched SciFi.com and link to Ghost Hunters, but no luck. Others might be interested too. Thanks!
(My dish has been down for a while, and I can’t get SciFi right now.)
Still getting set up for digital broadcast TV.

  37. Ozzy Says:

Well Paul G you have to wait until season 4 comes out on DVD. They wont be out in a long time. So far I have them all up to date. Also thank Ken for telling about the man who passed away while working on the building.

  38. Paul G Says:

My hope is that the DVD release will have uncut footage of this episode too.
Maybe I’ll catch a rerun of this one later in the season when I get the dish back up and running again. Too much outdoor stuff to do now before snow flies.

I’m sure info on the construction worker could be researched at a library that has old editions of the Courier Express archived, dating from that time period. It would help to at least know the month and year it happened. It had to have occurred in about 1928 or early 1929, when work on the upper levels was being done, before the grand opening in June 1929. I suspect it may have happened during the winter months, when there was snow and ice up there, and back in those days, very few safety harnesses to wear, some only ropes, which many did not use. And many didn’t wear their hard hats either.

  39. Vishal Says:

With the place now haunted I hope TAPS will come back next year and film their Holloween Investigation there. This year they will spend 6 hrs live on TV to investigate Ft Miflin in Philadelphia, PA. Last year it was Waverly Hills Hospital in Louisville, KY. The year before it was the Stanley Hotel where Steven King filmed The Shinning”

BCT needs to get these guys back there. But I hope you guys will have the floors cleared out in time so that they don’t have to use the masks. I didn’t think the areas were that bad with the dust and debris til they wore the masks. I hope that clearing out the floors between now and Holloween of 2009 will be a top priority.

Wonder how many more hauntings will pop up once the place is fully restored?

  40. Aaron J Says:

I hope the CTRC secures that building as good as they can cause you know you will have a bunch of amateur “ghost hunters” (kids) breaking in trying to experience something on their own.

On a side note, I’ve watched every episode of Ghost Hunters since it came on in
‘04, and the investigation of the terminal was one of the best I’ve seen, period.

  41. J. Fedele Says:

Hi to all, it’s funny how stories and tales change over the years. Maybe it’s time to stop by and take a look on what happen to this Old Grand Lady. Also, I could for those who are interested drop off a picture of my late father.
    Joe

  42. Paul G Says:

Thanks Joe, much appreciated! Why don’t you c’mon up during the Mobility Across the Ages presentation and introduce yourself to us at the CTRC? If Tom and Mike can make it up too, they are also cordially invited. I would like to meet you and the rest of the surviving Fedele clan that had ties with the terminal. I’m sure the rest of the CTRC members who will be at the program would also.
    It’s Saturday October 11 from 3pm to 11pm.

  43. Paul G Says:

Has anybody bought a drink from the Pepsi machine in the concourse, put the money in the machine, pushed the button, and heard a voice right behind them saying “That stuff’s bad for you, you know!”, turned around and saw nobody there? No one else even nearby. That would be enough to freak anybody out!

  44. Ozzy Says:

Yeah that would be cool. I would like to do a small paranormal investigation on Fedeles floor. So far I investigated Rolling Hills Sanitarium and Old Fort Niagra. At both these places, I got some really cool evidence.

  45. Kron Nik Says:

    Hey Joe,

That would be really smoking if you could produce a picture of Tony Fedele that maybe one of the websites could post on the internet so people like me who do not live in Buffalo could also see what your father looked like. Joe did you see the Ghost Hunter episode? I am sure they will rebroadcast it, but I am curious if you heard the voice TAPS recorded screaming Go Home and if you can say it sounded like your father’s voice. That was a pretty dramatic moment. I am into ghost hunting and have been on a hunt or two myself, but that would have been a major buzzkill for me.

I hope TAPS goes there again in the future and with more crew, however it looks like a pretty dangerous place to be exploring with all of the damage and broken glass. I am surprised they are still using the building for anything, but I hope that they are able to further restore it. Although I have a hard time picturing what it would be used for.

  46. Paul G Says:

I’m surprised the presences there haven’t set off the IR sensors in the clock tower security system yet, even as a prank. Maybe they know and respect the sensors well enough to tiptoe past them, or avoid them altogether.

Someday, when surveillance cameras are installed in the terminal, you never know what might turn up on the monitors in the new security office there! If “active” areas appear on some of those cameras, maybe a web link to those cameras could be established for live streaming video access for all interested!

  47. maureen shea-keicher Says:

Hello: Does any one know when the show will be on again. I missed it.

  48. Sara Etten Says:

If anyone wants to help clear out the floors for future investigations you are more than welcome to come lend a hand…and shovel :) Man power is the main reason areas like the office floors have yet to be opened up to the public. There just aren’t enough hours in the day, or people willing to get dirty in the building to get the work done. Remember, we’re an all volunteer organization and work that we can do ourselves, rather than pay a contractor to do, we do as long as we have the people to do it.

Sci-fi network puts full episodes of all shows on their website. I thought ours would be up by now, a week later, but it’s not. Keep checking though http://www.scifi.com/rewind/?sid=32855

  49. Laura Says:

You can buy the episode on itunes for $1.99, if you don’t want to wait for season 4 to come out on DVD that is.

  50. Bill Says:

There are three deleted scenes from the BCT episode last week on this site as well. (Episode 417). http://www.scifi.com/ghosthunters/video/index.php?cat=deleted&Chapter=61

  51. Paul G Says:

On the iTunes download or SciFi Rewind? Maybe Sara could post this info in a new thread so we can get the word out to others interested. Maybe someone could play it at the Mobility show next Saturday. For exhibition purposes, of course.

  52. Tracey B. Says:

The Ghosthunters are now doing an investigation at BCT on May22nd. I would LOVE to go. Buffalo would be a long haul for me though. My husband and I went with them to Trans Allegheny Lunatic Assylum back in July and had an awesome time!!! If you have the time and money to go it is well worth it. They have it posted on their website. We did get a few EVPs at TALA and we played with a K2 meter with Jason and Grant in the stretcher room. They are really cooool guys!!!

  53. Shea Says:

I love the paranormal but the thing could try to harm you and something like that could leave a person traumatized i have had a paranormal connectinon with my grandma and thats what got me into it but the thing in the station might scare someone too bad.

  54. Shea Says:

    and leave them truamatized

  55. Ginnette T. Says:

May 22nd?? Sweet! I live in Hamburg, so it’s not too far for me to go to see the Guys! My hubby and I were just talking about if the guys ever come back, how HE (who’s a skeptic) would love to go and investigate with them!!
One more reason I can’t wait for Spring!!!
